Choosing Elk premium laminated shingles is one of the best ways to improve the visual appeal and market value of your home. After all, up to 40% of your home's exterior may show as roofing - so your choice of a shingle is no small detail. The rich, dimensional appearance of Elk shingles makes a real statement.

Elk features a variety of distinctive roofing products in a wide range of colors, thicknesses and options, designed to provide your home with the best protection around. If you're looking for an ideal roof for your climate, your neighborhood, or your home, look to a whole different animal. Look to Elk - The Premium Choice®.

What type of shingles does Elk make?

Elk shingles are laminated, made with a thick layer of asphalt on each side of a tough fiberglass base. Mineral granules, which add the color and additional durability to the shingles, are embedded in the top asphalt layer. Laminated shingles are considered to be much better looking and generally have longer limited warranties than ordinary three-tab shingles.

Why put Elk on top of my home?

Because they're on top of the roofing industry. In fact, their record of innovation has made Elk The Premium Choice for architects, builders, and discerning homeowners all across the country.

Does Elk offer other roofing products besides laminated shingles?

At Elk, they specialize in offering the best laminated products on the market. They offer several Hip and Ridge shingles (also laminated products) which are designed to work with their regular shingles. In addition, we provide Roof Accessory Paint (for vents, flashing, etc.) in colors which coordinate perfectly with Elk shingle colors.

How will Elk shingles look on my roof?

Choosing Elk premium laminated shingles is one of the best ways to improve the visual appeal and market value of your home. Their rich, dimensional appearance makes a statement that few other roofing materials can.

How do Elk shingles compare to other types of roofing products?

Elk shingles carry the Underwriters Laboratory Class "A" fire rating (the highest), while wood shingles are being banned in many areas because of fire danger. Untreated wood shingles can warp, curl and burn (and are often unwarranted), while Elk shingles are made with a fiberglass base to avoid these problems. And Elk premium shingles are less expensive than wood or shake. Ordinary three-tab shingles are flat and thin -- and look that way on a roof. Conversely, Elk shingles lend a high-profile look to your home which adds to its value. And their extraordinary thickness allows them to be applied over old roofing, avoiding costly tear-offs in many cases.

How many different roofing products does Elk offer?

Elk offers four distinct roofing products.  Prestique products vary in thickness, appearance and price. Prestique Plus High Definition™ and Prestique Gallery Collection® are  super-heavyweight premium asphalt shingles. Prestique® I High Definition is a heavyweight premium asphalt shingle with natural visual depth and shadows. Prestique® High Definition is the laminated midweight shingle with a high definition look that’s the perfect way to upgrade for a modest price. Raised Profile™ is a laminated midweight shingle with the raised profile look, which offers a more dimensional appearance than an ordinary three-tab shingles. Capstone®, offers the impressive look of slate in a laminated shingle. Offered in three unique color blends, Capstone® creates an indelible impression of deep shadows, particularly on homes with prominent steep roofs.

What kind of color selection does Elk offer?

There is a full palette of fashionable colors for each of the roofing products. Color selection does vary a little from region to region. For color samples please go to the Elk Corp. website.

How well will Elk shingles protect my home from the elements?

Elk shingles are designed to stand up to the elements, year after year. Because they've earned UL wind resistant and Class "A" fire ratings, they offer excellent protection against wind and fire damage.

What type of warranty is there on Elk shingles?

Depending on the product you choose, Elk offers limited warranties ranging from 30 to 50 years. Please visit the Warranties and Registrations section of the Elk website for complete details.
